Zoé Carroll is our life coach and is a Master NLP Practitioner and Time Based Techniques Practitioner. She has also been a Sports Therapist for over 20 years. She works at the clinic every Friday afternoon from 1-7pm.

Coaching is about supporting people to be the best version of themselves, living their best life and moving towards making their dreams come true.

Coaches are trained to listen, and to ask questions which can help you to look at an issue from a different perspective, guiding you to your own answers. We can then work together to assist you in developing your own ideal plan. A coach doesn't mentor or offer advice, but can help you to find your own way forward in your personal or work life.

Zoé can help you to find your confidence, reduce anxiety and take control of your life. This can be through changing behaviours, such as over-eating or avoiding certain situations, or through the use of techniques designed to help you see or experience things differently. Using time-based techniques, Zoé can help you to heal past hurts, re-experience the feelings from your life's highlights to help you connect with your achievements, or even experience a potential future event to see how it might feel when you get there.

Zoé says "When I was a sports coach, I helped athletes to train so that they could perform their best on the field or court, but also to look at their mental blockages, such as working with those who became so nervous before a match that they couldn't play their game as well as they knew that they could. This prepared me well for life coaching, because many people I see have similar issues to those athletes; anxiety, feelings of inadequacy or worry about failing. The good news is, using my coaching and NLP training, I can help even more people to achieve their best at the most important game of all - the game of living your life the way you want to!"

NLP is short for Neuro-linguistic programming. Neuro relates to our mind, linguistic is to do with language and programming is a term most frequently seen relating to computers, but is to do with the 'programmes' that we run in our minds, many of which we don't realise are running as part of our own programming. This programming can come from our upbringing, our experiences, our culture, our beliefs or any way of thinking or being that we have developed to cope with events that have happened in our lives. And just like computer programmes or apps, these programmes need updating or renewing when they become outdated. The trouble is, most people don't know how to do this, and that is where a coach comes in. We help you to reprogramme how you use your mind and your language to replace old or broken programmes so that you run more smoothly, and when that happens, you will feel that everything feels easier and you may feel happier, more positive, more confident, more capable, more empowered - more of whatever it was that you were lacking when you sought support.

Coaching is a subtle method of working, much of the serious business of coaching feels more like a conversation, with the coach asking you questions that seem straightforward, and help you to look at something in a different way than you usually might. This on it's own can be enough to bring about some change, but NLP training gives the coach many tools (often referred to as processes) that they can use to take you through a brain rehearsal so that the change that you wanted to achieve feels completely natural and part of your usual way of being when it takes effect.

Coaching can be a quick and effective method for bringing about change because the processes allow the change to feel natural immediately. The changes can last a lifetime, or may need some tweaking to make them even more effective. For example, if you wanted to feel confident in a specific situation and had coaching around that, there may be some effect on your general confidence levels, but to really solidify the change so that you felt really confident across more situations, you may require some more coaching.

Coaching can also work in a 'content-free' way. This means that if your belief, behaviour of way of being are as a result of something that happened to you that you don't want to talk about at that time, the coach doesn't need to know the details or even the content of that event in order to be able to help you.

This is another reason that working as a collective is beneficial to us and to you as our client, because whatever therapy you may need, we can work together to offer you the right support at the right time. If, once you have received coaching you feel that you need more support from a counsellor for example, we have other members of the collective who can offer this (keep following the blog for more about that coming soon).
